Barca stands behind Messi as star’s appeal against tax fraud gets rejected

I am practically tired of Messi’s issues with the Spanish authorities, it has always been one tax issue after another, and if it’s not involving Messi directly, it will be involving his father, and this time around, the star’s appeal against the charges have been rejected, which could mean jail term, though we know that’s next to impossible.
Lionel Messi is enjoying the weight of his club’s support as he appeals against a 21-month prison term for what many call ‘tax fraud’, though we don’t know if its tax evasion or not paying the expected amount in taxes. This comes after July 2016’s judgment in which the footballer and his father were found guilty on three counts of defrauding the Spanish tax office of 4.1 million euros.
After taking the matter to the Supreme Court, it has been concluded that the footballer will serve the sentence and he will also have to pay a 2.1 million euro fine. Jorge Messi’s sentence got slashed to 15 months as it was stated that he tried to repair the damage by returning the money to tax authorities.
Under the Spanish law, any sentence that’s under two years will have to be suspended, which means none of them would have to spend time in prison, but the prison term could be exchanged for cash if that’s what the court decides.
Well, what do you have to say about this? Many of us do not have eyes in what’s really happening behind the door, but I believe tax fraud is too small for Messi and Barcelona to always have to be caught in the net.
